4th year Haddy Bha joined 67 Young Ambassadors of Sport representing 20 Edinburgh High Schools and 3 ASN schools on a fun packed weekend to Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education up in Aviemore Scotalnd.
We arrived on Friday raring to go with a quick change and beds ready we met for a quick dinner then it was out with helmets and blindfolds on for our walk of trust! Here all Young Ambassadors wear blacked out googles and have to lead each other round a rope path in the middle of the woods! The fact that it is pitch dark makes it even more exciting!
Saturday morning started 6.30am with an outdoor circuit routine followed by breakfast! We then got into our wet suits and completed a beautiful (although freezing) gorge walk. Haddy was first to take the lead in many of the challenges. From walking under waterfalls or plunging into deeper parts of the river! Here Haddy’s group really started to bond and they went on to do Mountain Biking, Archery and on Sunday Leaps of Faith (jumping from 30ft tree). Haddy was a great asset to the group always being friendly, fun and encouraging.
Haddy also participated in our Sports Leadership and Presentation Skills on the Sunday before starting our journey home at 1.30pm.
It was great having Haddy with us and brilliant that Wester Hails Education Centre had such a positive young person representing the school. I hope that Haddy will work closely with Active Schools and the PE department to encourage more young people to get active in school and enjoy her new confidence in her role as Young Ambassador of Sport at Wester Hails Education Centre.
