I realise this is a unsettling and uncertain time for us all.
You will be aware of the recent update from Nicola Sturgeon (17.03.20) that a blanket approach to school closures is highly likely and as Headteacher of the school and Centre, I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight where we are as of today and what we will be doing in terms of support and communication.
Information on Coronavirus
I’m sure you will accessing this regularly however if you need information we have links on our webpage that will take you to the most recent government advice.
Communication
In order to respond to your concerns, we’re asking you to email us using the following methods:-
Any concern about learning – email your teacher directly. All information is contained in the Home Learning Hub(details below)
Any concern about school in general – email Admin@whec.edin.sch.uk
Any concern about Leisure activities – email Bookings@whec.edin.sch.uk
Home Learning Hub
On our website you will see a tab called Home Learning Hub. This contains subject specific information for each subject area for all pupils. There are clear links as to how your son/daughter communicates with their teachers (via email) about issues such as SQA exams. We prepared students for this eventuality last week and all of them have a school managed Ipad to assist with their learning.
We have yet to establish core hours (where teachers will be available) and once we do, I’ll update the Home Learning Hub with those times.
Leisure Activities
From 2200 on Wednesday 18.03.20 , Leisure services, Adult Education and Community Access to Schools will remain closed until further notice.
Additional Services
Other services that link with the school such as Maximise and Broomhouse Young Carers are operating remote or reduced service and will not be operating out of WHEC. If you are linking with those services, please contact them directly to make further arrangements.
Finally, from me personally and on behalf us all at the school; stay safe and take care of yourself and your family.
Best wishes
David Young
Headteacher
