Wester Hailes Education Centre is working with Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative to offer our S3 students the opportunity to learn skills in bicycle servicing and repair.

Tutored by Niall Patterson, an experienced bicycle mechanic, our S3 students are learning how to remove and refit a wheel and tyre; mend a puncture; adjust the gears so they index accurately; and adjust the brakes so the pads don’t rub when they’re off or squeal when they’re on.

Towards the end of term, the group will be offering bicycle servicing and basic repairs to members of the public – putting their new-found skills to good use.
