This is an annual event that brings together the High School and all the Primary Schools in the Wester Hailes Cluster. It allows us to come together as a community and share practice. Parents have an opportunity to see the learning that is taking place in our local schools. Staff and Pupils work collaboratively.
This year, the Centenary Commemoration of WW1 was the theme for the learning for each of the schools. The young people worked independently on learning about this major conflict. They then created a performance that represented what they had learned. Pupils developed their knowledge and skills across different subject areas as they researched WWW1 and used poetry, prose, drama, film and music to create an expressive piece that represented some or all of the themes of this conflict. At the event itself the audience enjoyed the variety of performances that included a piper. There were also displays of WW1 artefacts and an opportunity to search for family relatives that people may have lost in the war through the British Legion Every Man Remembered website (www.everymanremembered.org).
Our cluster celebration is an event that brings the cluster closer together. It is an important part of our transition programme as it gives our Primary parents an early opportunity for a visit to the High School to engage in conversation with staff.
