Personal and Social Education Programme
Pupil Support Leaders teach Personal and Social Education to all students S1- S6. The PSE programme is designed to develop personal, social and vocational skills. At its heart is the development of the whole child and it aims to develop students’ life skills, preparing them for a wide variety of situations which may arise in school and in their wider life. We aim also to develop each child’s confidence to enable them to make healthy lifestyle choices.
The PSE programme has been developed in line with the Health and Wellbeing aspect of Curriculum for Excellence. The content includes Health, Personal Safety, Citizenship, Careers Education, course choices. During their High School career, students will study various elements within these categories which are age appropriate and relevant to them.
Work experience and wider achievement opportunities are co-ordinated by Pupil Support. Students from S4 upwards have opportunities to gain valuable placements in a wide range of industries. We also work in close partnership with other agencies and outside speakers who contribute to the delivery of the curriculum.
Careers Support
Pupil Support Leaders work closely with our Careers Advisor, Jo Holmes of Skills Development Scotland to ensure that all students gain advice and support to help plan for a positive destination when they leave school.
