Our exhibition was created using work from our S3 design unit. The unit allows the students to understand the process of investigation, development and final outcome and helps them to move seamlessly into National 5 and Higher.

The brief for this product design unit was to design and make a fully functioning clock based on the theme of tropical birds. This gave our students the freedom to investigate the colour shapes and forms of such beautiful creatures and allowed the students to experience not only product design but to explore concepts and ideas relating to three-dimensional design.

They had great fun making their clocks and transforming their designs from paper to constructing them in clay using a variety of techniques. Once the clocks were fired, the students then painted them using their initial studies for inspiration. The clocks were then varnished and the mechanisms added later.
