I’d like to offer a huge thank you to Mandy O’Regan and Morag Smart for their support with the WHEC S1 visit to Waterstones at Edinburgh West End, this week. Our students, numbering a baker’s dozen, thoroughly enjoyed exchanging their World Book Day tokens for the specially published WBD titles and one or two students bought books and used their vouchers to get money off each item. As well as guidance and encouragement on the book floor, Waterstones staff ensured that all the young people enjoyed a hot drink in the top floor cafeteria …cappuccino or hot chocolate? Waterstones are very keen to encourage reading for pleasure and Mandy extended an invite to all the students to pop in, with or without family members, at weekends or during the school holidays, if they are “up town”.
