Headteacher’s End of Term Update

Dear Parent/Carer

This is an update on the situation in school at the moment. We now have 3 individuals who have tested positive for Covid 19 and the details of our actions were posted on our website on Sunday 11th and Monday 12th October.  There have been no additional new cases since Monday.

As you know we have been working closely with colleagues in NHS Lothian and Public Health Scotland and the current situation has been fully risk assessed. The advice we have received is that the school can continue to operate safely and I’d like to offer you a reassurance that we will continue not to take any undue risks and will keep you informed.

While I understand you may have some concerns about the number of cases, for a school of our size, 3 cases is still a relatively low number and the risk to children and staff appears to remain low. We will continue to follow the enhanced cleaning measures within the school. Staff and pupils will be reminded again of the need to keep 2m distance, of hand hygiene, of using surface wipes before and after using equipment and to wear facemasks in communal areas and where 2m distancing can’t be maintained.

Finally I wanted to extend my thanks to all the parents and carers who have supported the school by ensuring your child is in uniform, on time and complying with the our safety protocols. I will be taking some annual leave from Wednesday 21st October until Monday 26th October and will inform you of our new version of our Adaptation Plan on my return.

Best wishes and of course stay safe.
