2017 Career Ready Launch

On the afternoon of Friday 6 October 5 pupils took part in the massive launch event for Career Ready at the EICC. This launch involved nearly every school in Edinburgh and Midlothian. Pupils worked together with their mentors from industry on a range of ice-breaker activities. They also heard from previous Career Ready pupils who have completed their work internship. There was also a Q and A section with an Edinburgh Head Teacher and also the Chairperson of the Career Ready Board. Pupils left the event more confident and ready for the next masterclass.

Career Ready is a UK wide charity linking employers with schools to open up the world of work to young people. It is a structured programme of employer engagement that enables schools to offer a valuable experience to a small group of pupils. Career Ready have worked with experts in education and business to develop high quality, employer-endorsed materials, which deliver a set of Skills for Career Success to help our students compete with the best in the country. Pupils take part in “Masterclasses” learning skills for the work place, as well as a summer paid work internship. All of which will give then an advantage when they enter the real world of work.
