Over the last 10 weeks, WHEC has been working with the City of Edinburgh Council Outdoor Education team to deliver the Bike4Ever programme.

This programme – funded by Smarter Choices Smarter Places – aims to increase bicycle use amongst young people. 15 WHEC students have taken part in the programme and have been learning how to;

• Plan journeys and stay safe
• Repair punctures and minor bicycle issues
• Position on the road
• Increase awareness of hazard perception
• Select safest routes to reach a destination

Over the duration of the programme, young people have increased their awareness of local cycle paths and safe routes around the area. All of our participants have reported an increase in their bicycle use and all are keen to take part in more cycling activities in future.
