Young People’s Lecture – Emmanuel Jal

rapperSenior Modern Studies students recently attended a lecture by former child soldier, Emmanuel Jal. Spoken word and songs were used to illustrate the story of Emmanuel’s childhood in South Sudan, his life as a child soldier and his pathway to peace through education. His unique style of hip hop with its message of peace and reconciliation engaged all of the audience. Our students were able to participate in a question and answer session with Emmanuel – some even joined him on stage as backing dancers.
