The Library Big Book Bash – November 2013

The Languages Faculty and the Librarian aimed to promote reading for pleasure and in particular promote books written by modern Scottish autIMG_4508hors.

The event was very, well supported by senior students and teachers. After breaking the ice with a book game, everyone chatted over tea and coffee!

We were delighted to welcome Susan Varga, from the CEC Public Library Service. Susan presented a short power point and talked to our students about accessing E.books, by joining the Public Libraries. She explained that this could be easily done online, nowadays, and left pre-activated membership cards and information packs for our students. Staff then held a “book auction” where they promoted their favourite books, through a light-hearted but fast-paced, hard sell!! Students were then invited to browse and take away one, of the free books available; borrow school library books aimed at seniors and ….activate their Public Library membership, as soon as possible.
