In October a group of our S2 students participated in the Techfest – Maths into Finance event at Edinburgh College where they learnt about calculating net pay, budgeting, borrowing and saving. In the afternoon, the event culminated with each group applying their knowledge to financially plan for, choose a mortgage and bid on a house using the Scottish ‘offers over’ system. Although we were just outbid by another group, our students presented their solution well and were chosen as the most financially savvy team.
