Recently, the senior Higher English class were visited by Georgie Gill, from the Scottish Poetry Library. Our school library was the venue for Georgie’s workshop session on the poet Carol Ann Duffy, whom we are currently studying. The after school chat was based on Duffy’s two poems “Originally” and “War Photographer”. The Library environment allowed the students to engage in poetry in a more informal environment. The students were praised, by Georgie, for their willingness to participate in such an incisive and thoughtful discussion.
