Napier post-graduate students with our school librarian: donating Scottish books on behalf of Merchiston Publishing, Edinburgh.

The School Library has been most fortunate, this session, in having received three separate donations of books, new and used! A huge, “THANKS”, must go to the following groups:

  • Napier post graduate students, through Merchiston Publishing: donated books by three classic Scottish novelists whose books have been out of print for some time –  Lewis Grassic Gibbons, James McLevy and Mollie Hunter. Thank you, for selecting our school!
  • Bounce Sales & Marketing Group to Sarah Wright, sales managerdonated around five dozen teenage books, by popular authors. Our senior students met Sarah at the Teen Titles evening reception in August and so impressed her that she contacted the Librarian and offered to donate some new books to our library.
  • Former Principal Teacher of English and Head Teacher, Jane Frith: dozens of almost new as well as some well -loved teenage and senior student titles – everything from Harry Potter to Iain Banks and Shakespeare! Thank you, for remembering Wester Hailes Education Centre.

Most of these books will be added to the school Library collection but some will be added to a “reading is fun = RIF” collection. This special collection is offered to all S1 students during Scotland Book Week in November and at World Book Day in March. Students are given the opportunity to choose one of these books, for free, to keep as their own.

Donations of teenage books, in good condition, are very welcome at any time. These will be added to the “RIF” collection
