January 27th was Holocaust Memorial Day and in the lead up we commemorated victims and survivors of the Holocaust and of other genocides around the world.
We held assemblies for all year groups where we heard from Natasha Dooner in S6 and Anthony Scott, Klaudia Mejza and Winnie Thomas in S2. Natasha participated in ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ last September where she joined students across Edinburgh to learn more about the Holocaust. She met with a Holocaust survivor and travelled to Auschwitz. Natasha shared her experiences with the school and encouraged senior students to apply for this years project.
S2 students told the school about the theme for this years Holocaust Memorial Day which was ‘Keep the Memory Alive’. They designed stolpersteine in class which are memorial stones, and drew them in the quad in chalk for the rest of the school to see.
