Community Services

Art7Our Community Education department offers programmes in both adult education and youth work.

Our adult education programme is one of the largest in Edinburgh with over 600 adults attending approximately 60 classes.

We produce a new programme three times a year for courses beginning in September, January and April. Read our latest Adult-Programme.

We offer a wide range of classes based on what students tell us they want and what has been previously popular. These range from leisure options to academic pursuits – both certificate and non-certificate.

Classes are costed competitively with very substantial discounts for those eligible for concessions and those over 60. Detailed information can be read in the our latest Adult-Programme.

People came to these classes not only from our local community in Wester Hailes but from all over Edinburgh and beyond. They come for a variety of reasons: from improving their employment prospects to simply learning something new in the company of others.

We try to maintain a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and offer occasional social events for our students.

We offer an information and course choice service to anyone who requires it, giving information on classes and services available both here and elsewhere. More information can be read in our latest Adult-Programme.

We have a childcare service: The Rainbow under 5s Centre which is available for the children of adults attending any of our services.

Our youth work programme takes place in the evenings, at lunchtimes and after school. These programmes are for young people of high school age and many are available to anyone living in the area.
